Here at Landmark Hair Clinic, we offer nearly twenty years of experience in helping everyone over the UK with their hair loss issues, including men and women alike. One of the solutions we offer, which we will be focussing on today, is our surgical hair loss solutions. You may experience hair loss due to a response to a new kind of medication, severe stress and or simply as a natural part of the aging process. Whatever the reason for your hair loss, we can help with a range of solutions, including surgery.
FUE Hair Transplant Solutions
There are typically two different options when it comes to hair transplantation. The first and most commonly used these days is known as FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). In this type of treatment, each follicular unit is removed individually, with each follicle containing between one and four hairs. Once the follicles are place into the desired area, each follicle will be able to sit in a predetermined area within the tiny punctures made by the surgeon. Using this technique, it is possible to achieve an optimum density and hair pattern, which will later transform into a realistic and consistent hair pattern result.
FUT Hair Transplant Solutions
The second technique for hair transplant solutions is FUT, which stands for Follicular Unit Transplantation. Also known as strip harvesting, this option used to be more common, but it is usually used for those who need a large number of grafts in order to fill a big surface area with hair, with the strip of hair follicles taken covering around 1–1.5cm x 15–30 cm. Like the FUE hair transplant, this surgical solution takes just one day to complete, using local anaesthetic.
Aftercare for Hair Transplants
Following either treatment, you can expect to have some downtime whilst your skin recovers from the surgery. Throughout the healing process, you will notice some swelling and redness in the area that was treated, but this should only be between five days to a week. Gradually, your new hairline will take shape, and your hair will be fully regrown within a year after the surgery.
